PHOENIX - Phoenix police say a man is behind bars after admitting to police that he sexually assaulted at least three women.
Phoenix police spokesman Sgt. Steve Martos said 38-year-old Nilson Quijano-Quezada is facing sexual assault, kidnapping and armed robbery charges.
Martos said on March 18,Quijano-Quezada allegedly picked up a 42-year-old woman near 27th Avenue and Van Buren, a known and admitted prostitute, and sexually assaulted her. Martos said the victim filed a police report however there was limited information to follow up with at the time.
Police believe on April 20, Quijano-Quezada approached an 18-year-old female near 59th Avenue and McDowell and attempted to force her into his vehicle. Martos said the 18-year-old fought back at which time Quijano-Quezada reportedly choked the victim rendering her unconscious. Martos said Quijano-Quezada then robbed the victim of her purse and fled the scene.
Authorities said later the same evening, Quijano-Quezada approached a 48-year-old woman near 59th Avenue and Camelback while she was walking home. Quijano-Quezada reportedly told the woman he had a gun and forced her into his vehicle. Martos said Quijano-Quezada then allegedly sexually assaulted the woman and forced her to withdraw cash from her bank account.
Martos said officers located Quijano-Quezada leaving the scene of the third incident.
Detectives linked all three cases and when they interviewed Quijano-Quezada, he admitted involvement in the case and stated he had done "this" before.
Authorities are concerned there may be other victims.
In addition to releasing Quijano-Quezada's booking photo, authorities also provided a description of his car. It is described as a black 2001 Lexus IS300, 4-door sedan with Arizona license plate number AFS5201.
