PHOENIX - A mother and her 11-year-old son were caught stealing from a Phoenix Walmart on Monday.
Joann Denice Thomas, 45, was seen removing items from store shelves at the Walmart near Southern and 35th avenues and hiding them in a baby carrier, according to police records.
Her son, 11, was also helping place items in the cart, said police.
The mother was stopped by a loss prevention officer when they tried to exit and fled with her son to their vehicle, said police. The mother then drove her vehicle around the parking lot, but fled on foot when officers approached her, said police documents.
Thomas was arrested and booked on one count of facilitated shoplifting, a class 4 felony, and one count of contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Court documents show that Thomas was caught shoplifting before.
