PD: Man shot at Phoenix apartment dies, suspect loose

PHOENIX - Police are searching for a suspect who shot a man in a Phoenix apartment Thursday morning.

According to Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump, a 20-year-old man was shot just before 7 a.m. near Indian School Road and 23rd Avenue.

The victim Lemuel Warren, 19, who was shot at least once, was transported to the hospital in extremely critical condition but did not survive his injuries, Crump said.

Authorities said there were two other adults and two young children home at the time of the shooting.

Crump said one of the victims, a female in the home, had a relationship with the suspect, 28-year-old Kheylon Cunningham, and their relationship appears to be part of the motive in the shooting.

Police set up a perimeter in the area and sent children home who were waiting at school bus stops.

Authorities said Cunningham is considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness.
