PHOENIX - Authorities say an 8-year-old girl was pulled out of a canal Monday morning in Phoenix.
Phoenix fire officials said it happened around 10:30 a.m. near 50th Street and Indian School Road.
Crews said the girl is expected to be OK because of the help of a passerby.
The girl was with her mother at the time and somehow fell into the canal, fire officials said.
The girl was able to swim but couldn't get out of the deep canal, according to Phoenix fire crews.
Fire officials said her mother wasn't able to get her out. But a passerby noticed, grabbed a step ladder, and threw it in the water to help the girl out.
When police arrived, a human chain was formed to pull the girl out of the canal.
