PD: Burglars crack safes at 25 Phoenix-area businesses

PHOENIX - The Phoenix Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying crooks going from business to business cracking safes.

Authorities said the burglars have targeted the area between 19th Avenue and 43rd Avenue and Indian School Road to Glendale Avenue.

Phoenix Police Sgt. Steve Martos said the suspects break the store owners' surveillance camera before going in. Once inside, the suspects use construction tools to break open or remove the safe.

From Danny's Deli at 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road to Subway and cell phone stores, the crooks have broken into them all.

"Maybe it took them a couple hours, three hours to make a big hole, they took all of the alarm, wires and everything," said Danny's Deli owner Kevin Korkis.

Martos said since June, the suspects are believed to have taken close to $100,000 from approximately 25 different victims/businesses in the Phoenix area.

Authorities say if you have any information related to these crimes, please call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
