PD: Phoenix barricade ends after armed robbery suspect shoots self

PHOENIX - A barricade involving an armed robbery suspect ended Wednesday morning in Phoenix after the suspect shot himself in front of officers, according to police.

The robbery occurred around 5 a.m. at a Subway restaurant near Tatum Boulevard and Bell Road, according Phoenix police Officer James Holmes.

Police said 27-year-old Andrew Joseph Desgranges then went to Walmart and took a cab to the area of 43rd and Northern avenues.

The cab driver was reportedly unaware of the situation.

Desgranges went into his own house around 6:30 a.m., and residents inside were able to get out without incident, Holmes said.

Air15 video showed several police units in front of the house.

The barricade ended around 11:15 a.m. after Desgranges shot himself.
