PHOENIX - Police say a 7-year-old child was hit while crossing the street Monday morning in Phoenix.
Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said the girl was struck around 8 a.m. while crossing 31st Avenue and Roosevelt Street and that it appears the child was in the crosswalk.
A fire official said the child was taken to the hospital in stable condition and police were waiting for an update before opening the road.
Crump said it was a blue minivan that hit the child and the driver may be cited.
It appeared the accident scene is next to J.B. Sutton Elementary School.
