PHOENIX - Two people were taken to the hospital with critical injuries after a stabbing in central Phoenix Thursday night.
Phoenix police Lt. Bryan Chapman said that around 10:30 p.m. they began getting 911 calls from neighbors of people screaming in the street near 36th Street and Campbell Avenue.
Officers found two people with stab wounds on the sidewalk.
Friday morning, Sgt. Tommy Thompson said one of the victims was a 22-year-old woman. He said she had apparently been in an argument and physical fight with a 33-year-old man.
Thompson said at some point the man stabbed the woman, then stabbed himself.
Both were taken to the hospital.
Thompson said the woman's injuries do not appear to be life threatening, but the man's injuries do appear to be life threatening.
