PHOENIX - Police say two suspects are in custody after a home invasion in central Phoenix early Wednesday.
Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said four male suspects armed with handguns forced their way into a home near 41st and Northern avenues and demanded a safe.
They weren't able to get what they wanted and fled in a gold-colored Honda passenger car.
Crump said the homeowner fired a number of shots at the suspect vehicle and a couple of neighboring homes were struck by the gunfire.
The suspect vehicle was not struck.
A few minutes later, officers located a gold Honda at Interstate 17 and Glendale Avenue and the vehicle drove into the neighborhood where the occupants ran into the neighborhood.
A K9 search led to the capture of two suspects and the recovery of one gun, according to police.
The investigation is ongoing.
