PD: 11-year-old girl hit by cars in Phoenix dies

PHOENIX - Phoenix police say an 11-year-old girl, who was struck by two cars while riding her bike Wednesday afternoon, has died.

Phoenix police Sgt. Trent Crump said the collision happened around 4:15 p.m. when she was riding northbound across Indian School Road in a marked crosswalk just east of 20th Avenue.

The young girl, named Bu Meh, was riding ahead of her father and went out into the roadway without waiting for traffic to stop, Crump said.

She collided with a silver Mazda headed westbound and was then struck by a blue Mazda, which was also traveling westbound, he said.

Crump said Meh was not wearing any protective equipment.

He said Meh was transported to Phoenix Children's Hospital in critical condition and passed away Friday afternoon.

The drivers involved in the incident were not hurt and were evaluated by detectives, Crump said.

Both of them were not impaired, he said.

No citations have been issued and the investigation continues.

Crump initially said the girl was 12 years old, but she is now believed to be 11.
