PD: $1,000 reward for information leading to arrest in Phoenix taxi cab driver shooting

PHOENIX - Police are offering a $1,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest of the person or persons responsible for shooting a Phoenix taxi cab driver.

Phoenix police spokesman Darren Burch said on August 13th, the driver picked up two people around 5 a.m. near the intersection of 28th Drive and Sweetwater and drove them to a Studio 6 motel near 27th Avenue and Union Hills Drive.

Burch said the cab driver was shot once in the face after arguing with the suspects about the fare.

The driver sustained serious, but non life-threatening injuries to his face and jaw. The two suspects fled the scene without paying their fare.

Police released store surveillance photos of two people who were in the area of the original taxi cab pick-up location.

Authorities believe these two "persons of interest" may have information about the shooting and also match the suspects' general descriptions.

The suspects are described as a male and female, both 16 to 20 years old.
