One critically injured after Phoenix nightclub shooting

PHOENIX - One individual is critically injured after suffering a gunshot wound to the head at a Phoenix nightclub.

According to reports, a fight broke out between two people around 3:30 a.m. at an after-hours spot near Central Avenue and Mohave Street.

A witness told ABC15 reporter Pete Suratos that the nightclub is called Ap's, which has reportedly had issues in the past.

One of the individuals pulled out a gun and shot another person who is in critical condition after having surgery Saturday morning.

Witnesses say there were approximately 200-300 people at the nightclub at the time.

Police in the area were patrolling and called for backup, soon creating a large police presence at the scene that remained for several hours.

Officers questioned witnesses about the incident, but have yet to receive a thorough suspect ID.

One individual is believed to be a person of interest, but nothing has been confirmed.

The area is still closed while officers conduct an investigation.

Police say there is not a lot of cooperation at the scene of the shooting.

No other information is known at this time.
