PHOENIX - An inmate who died last year while in Maricopa County sheriff's custody died of natural causes resulting from complications of a stomach ulcer.
That's according to a Maricopa County Medical Examiner's report released Friday.
Toxicology tests showed a low amount of methamphetamine was found in 47-year-old Felix Martinez Torres' system, but the drug didn't play a role in his death.
Torres died last Oct. 6 after being found unconscious in a cell at the Towers Jail in Phoenix.
He was given CPR by jail staff members and Phoenix Fire Department paramedics and rushed to a Phoenix hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
