PHOENIX - Police are investigating the bizarre death of a 37-year-old woman who was struck by a car in Phoenix early Saturday..
The woman was naked and sitting in the middle of the road near 34th Street and Thomas early Saturday morning when she was struck by a woman driving a 2010 Toyota Yaris.
Police have identified the driver as 43-year-old Amiee Butel.
According to Sgt. Steve Martos, Butel initially stopped east of the collision scene and stood by observing the activity surrounding the pedestrian.
When police arrived on the scene Butel fled before identifying herself as being involved.
Police located Butel's vehicle shortly after and arrested her. Police say Butel showed signs of impairment.
Police were unable to tell much information about the victim and what caused her strange behavior.
Butel has been booked into Fourth Avenue Jail. She is being charged with leaving the scene of a fatal traffic collision and DUI.
