MCSO uses stun gun to subdue knife-wielding homeless man at Fourth Avenue Jail

PHOENIX - A knife-wielding homeless man was Tased by Maricopa County detention officers according to Sheriff Joe Arpaio's office. 

Officials said Jesse Bustos Arce, 33, walked out of the men's bathroom in the lobby of the Fourth Avenue Jail with two knives in his hand. The man then began to make threatening statements toward detention officers, said MCSO.

Arce refused to obey orders to drop his weapons and was Tased and subdued, said MCSO.

Arpaio said the man was attempting "suicide by cop," according to the release. The man was taken to the jail's psych unit.

No other details were released.
