MCSO: Deputy won't be punished after horse dies

A Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office deputy will not be punished after a horse died in his custody, according to MCSO officials.

The horse was tied to a hitching post and got spooked, MCSO says.

While the horse was trying to break free, it broke its neck and died, according to MCSO.

MCSO says horses are easily spooked, and the deputy did nothing wrong.

The horse was in training for the “Mounted Patrol” unit at MCSO.
