PHOENIX - A Maricopa County constable was involved in a hit-and-run Monday evening near 37th Avenue and McDowell Road and is expected to be OK, according to MCSO officials.
MCSO spokesman Joaquin Enriquez said the vehicle involved belonged to the Maricopa County "peace officer," but said the victim did not work for the Sheriff's Office.
Phoenix police said the suspect's vehicle hit the constable's while he was inside the car.
The suspect fled the area on foot. A perimeter was established but the suspect was not found, police said.
Officials later learned the car was stolen out of Tempe.
The suspect is described as an 18 to 19-year-old Hispanic male, 150 pounds, black hair and last wearing light blue jeans an a white t-shirt.
The 52-year-old constable received minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.
The constables "provide the public with an efficient and timely service of process issued through the Justice Courts.," according to the Maricopa County website.
The website said there are 25 constables serving Maricopa County.
