PHOENIX - Maricopa County is expanding and relocating the Homeless Court to the Lodestar Day Resource Center in Phoenix to help homeless citizens get back on their feet.
According to officials, the court aims to help the homeless to resolve any outstanding, minor, victimless offenses so they can get jobs and become self-reliant.
Officials said the court was created in 2006 and has been so successful that the court needed to expand.
The court helps the homeless make restitution through community service.
Officials said that if someone owes a fee, they can do community service to pay it off. One hour of community service is equivalent to $10.
Court is held on the third Tuesday of every month at 1:30 p.m. on the Human Resources Campus at Lodestar Day Resource Center at 1125 W. Jackson Street in Phoenix.
