Man points weapon at undercover officer in Phoenix, taken into custody

PHOENIX - Authorities say a motorist has been arrested for allegedly pointing a loaded gun at a Phoenix police officer.

Police said Tuesday the 69-year-old man was jailed on suspicion of aggravated assault.

Police say an officer in plain clothes was driving near 15th Avenue and Missouri Monday morning.

The officer was making a U-Turn when another driver passed by and stuck his arm outside his window with a gun in his hand.

Police say the driver allegedly pointed the gun in the air and then aimed it at the officer. The officer ducked and radioed for help.

Police say the driver stopped his car and allegedly stuck the gun out of the window again, pointing it in the air.

No shots were fired and the suspect was taken into custody without incident.
