Kitten found in Yarnell Hill Fire gets a new home

PHOENIX - A kitten found wandering the streets of Yarnell has a new home after being put up for adoption at the Sunnyslope Animal Shelter.

The 10-week-old kitty was found by firefighters behind the fire lines during the devastating Yarnell Hill Fire .

The little one followed the firefighters around and never left their side.

The fire crew took the kitten to the Arizona Humane Society, but nobody came to claim her.

On Thursday night, the Humane Society held a lottery for more than 40 people who wanted to adopt her.

Kathleen Campos was the lucky winner. Campos said her daughters fell in love with the kitty after seeing her on TV. Campos went to the shelter without them knowing.

It's a pretty sure bet "Pele" was a big hit with the girls.
