Jhessye Shockley update: Jerice Hunter trial scheduled for August 2014

PHOENIX - A judge has scheduled an Aug. 4, 2014 trial for an Arizona woman charged with murder in the disappearance of her 5-year-old daughter.

Judge Rosa Mroz of Maricopa County Superior Court set the trial date Monday during a pretrial conference for Jerice Hunter.

Her next court date is set for Dec. 2.

Her lawyers have spent months reviewing evidence handed over by prosecutors.

Glendale police claim Jhessye Shockley was killed and her body put in a Tempe trash bin before Hunter reported her daughter missing on Oct. 11, 2011.

The 39-year-old Hunter was arrested last September. She maintains she is innocent and has pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree murder and child abuse.

A 96-day search at a Phoenix-area landfill in 2012 without finding the girl's remains.
