PHOENIX - In an effort to promote safety during dust and monsoon storms, the Arizona Department of Transportation is calling all poetry enthusiasts to submit haboob haikus.
ADOT began the Haboob Haiku Challenge last year to promote their "Pull Aside, Stay Alive" campaign, which received 600 submissions.
The campaign re-launched yesterday and will continue through the summer.
A haiku is a form of Japanese poetry that follows the traditional rules of three lines of five, seven and five syllables. The haikus submitted should reflect ADOT's public safety message to avoid driving during dust and monsoon storms.
