Honor Veterans Day with FREE stuff at Valley businesses

PHOENIX - Former and current military personnel can enjoy free food, drinks, car washes, and more as the Valley honors Veterans Day Friday.

Various businesses are offering the freebies to thank those who have served our country including the following:

Super Star Car Wash

Super Star Car Wash will give away a free full service car wash to any veteran or current military personnel at any full service location on Friday. The offer applies to any veteran or active military personnel offering proof of service (any current military ID). Find full service locations.

Applebee's :

All Applebee's across the country are serving free 'Thank You' meals to Veterans and Active Duty Military. A released said the restaurants will hold the event from 11 a.m. – midnight Friday, but guests should inquire with their local Applebee's restaurant about extended hours. Find a location near you .

Cooperstown Restaurant:

Cooperstown restaurant in downtown Phoenix is hosting a BBQ for veterans with live music and a raffle to benefit Wounded Warriors Foundation. The first 500 veterans to arrive, starting at 3 p.m., will be fed for free. Cooperstown will offer $5 BBQ sandwich meals for all other guests.

Musical Instrument Museum

MIM is offering free museum admission to veterans and active-duty military on Thursday and Friday. You must show valid military identification. On Thursday, MIM honored all U.S. military veterans with a lunchtime performance by the Arizona National Guard 108th Army Band.

Famous Dave's in Phoenix

Famous Dave's in Phoenix would like to thank all former and current military personnel by offering a FREE Two Meat Salute. The two meat salute is a choice of two different meats, including Texas Beef Brisket, Georgia Chopped Pork, Southside Rib Tips and Chicken Tenders, served with a corn bread muffin, corn-on-the-cob and a choice of one side. The Veteran must provide some kind of identification proving that he/she is a Veteran, such as an old Military ID, dog tags with a picture ID, photo of them in uniform or some sort of memorabilia from their time in service. Famous Dave's also offer "Military Monday's," which is a year-long promotion in which all four Famous Dave's Valley locations provide anyone with a military ID or family military ID a 20-percent discount on their meal every Monday, at any location in the Valley. The locations are in Chandler at 3250 West Frye Road, Peoria at 16148 North 83rd Avenue, SanTan Village in Gilbert at 2206 E Williams Field Rd, and Mesa Riverview in Mesa at 1011 Dobson Road.

Krispy Kreme

Veterans are invited to stop by Mesa's Krispy Kreme Doughnut Factory for a free doughnut of their choice on Friday. Veterans can show up with a veteran's ID, show it to a Krispy Kreme team member, and receive one free doughnut. If they do not have an ID, veterans can simply tell the Krispy Kreme representative that they are a veteran and they will receive a doughnut.

Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon National Park will be joining national park units across the country in celebrating Veterans Day with fee free entry into the park. This year, the fee free designation will apply to the entire Veteran's Day weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, November 11 - 13. Visitors who arrive on November 11, 12 or 13 will be allowed to enter the park free of charge. Those who plan to spend time in the park beyond November 13 will need to pay the regular entrance fee for the remainder of their stay. Park visitors are reminded that the fee-free designation applies to entrance fees only and does not affect fees for camping, reservations, tours, or use of concessions.

Maricopa County Parks

As a small token of appreciation for the freedoms afforded to all Americans, Maricopa County's Parks and Recreation Department will be honoring all veterans with Military Service Appreciation Day on Friday, November 11. The $6 entry fee per carload will be waived for military personnel.


As part of a Veteran's Day salute and to honor active military service personnel on this special day, the 7-Eleven will offer slurpees on base, and free, small slurpee drinks will be given to active, veteran and retired members of the military and their immediate families at participating 7-Eleven stores on 11/11/11, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Dutch Bros.

Dutch Bros. is celebrating the opening of their 8th Arizona location at 6461 S. Rural Road Tempe, with FREE 16 oz drinks all day at the location on Friday, November 11.
