PHOENIX - A 23-year-old hiker was rescued off Camelback Mountain Sunday after suffering a heat-related illness on Cholla Trail.
The woman was located by rescue crews before 10:30 a.m. and was taken down the trail with a 'big wheel' some time after that.
Cholla Trail is one of the more advanced trails on the mountain and the hiker was reportedly inexperienced.
She was taken to the hospital to receive attention for dehydration and complications from the heat.
There is no word on her condition as of Sunday afternoon.
It's always important to hike within your comfort zone and experience level.
Always be prepared and hydrated a few days before your hike and use caution when participating in strenuous exercise in extreme temperatures.
