PHOENIX - The intersection of 19th Avenue, Grand Avenue and McDowell Road will be closed all weekend, from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, according to the City of Phoenix Street Transportation Department. Traffic will be detoured throughout that time, with police officers on site to manage traffic flow.
The work on Grand Avenue is part of a $12.7 million U.S. 60 improvement project that includes pavement updates, road construction, new lighting, landscaping and fencing. The full project is scheduled to be completed in March.
Additionally, Camelback Road from 12th to 16th Streets will be restricted to two lanes eastbound and one land westbound daily from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. until Feb. 7 while the city installs new waterlines.
Jefferson Street between First and Third Avenues will be restricted to two lanes until the end of February while the city works on storm drains.
Thomas Road between 15th and 19th Avenues will be restricted to two lanes until Jan. 28 while a new water main and fire hydrants are installed.
The city encourages drivers to plan for additional travel time while these roads are restricted or closed.
