Valley residents will have three new places to shop this month when one of the oldest and largest nonprofit agencies in Arizona opens stores across the Valley.
Two new Goodwill locations will open in Phoenix and Peoria - including one with a Career Center. A third has already reopened after the completion of a remodeling project.
Goodwill, which doubles as a donation center and a retail store, puts people to work by providing job training and employment services to people with "vocational disadvantages and disabilities that can include mental and emotional barriers, physical disabilities, welfare dependency, illiteracy and age."
Visitors are encouraged to shop for discounted items including clothing, housewares, and antiques. Shoppers can also donate used clothing or unwanted items to be resold.
NEW PHOENIX LOCATION
The Phoenix Goodwill near 19th Avenue and Baseline Road will open at 9 a.m. on March 30, 2012. Job seekers will have access to computers, printers, telephones, fax machines, and the Internet at a special career center.
The first 150 shoppers, meanwhile, will receive a $5 gift card good on their next purchase at any Goodwill location.
In addition, people who make donations will receive $5 off their purchase during the grand opening weekend at the same location.
NEW PEORIA LOCATION
This Friday, another Goodwill will open at 83rd Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road, in Peoria.
Goodwill will not accept donations at that location.
REMODELED PHOENIX LOCATION
Shoppers are encouraged to make donations at the remodeled Union Hills Donation Center at Union Hills and 7th Street in Phoenix.
People who would like to donate items can also visit www.donate.goodwillaz.org to schedule a home pick-up.
