PHOENIX - A 17-year-old girl has died after being pulled from the bottom of a pool at a party Saturday night around 10:30 p.m.
She was identified by police Sunday afternoon as Angeline Davis.
A large group of people were reportedly in the pool near 43rd Avenue and Camelback Road, but many left to go indoors.
After approximately 10 minutes went by, the girl was found in the pool by her 13-year-old brother who was at the party with her. Police say someone "felt something at the bottom of the pool" which prompted the search.
According to police, the girl had no heart rate and was not breathing at the time. She was taken to the hospital in critical condition, but was pronounced deceased about an hour later.
Impairment does not appear to be a factor, and officials believe the drowning was an accident.
The victim's brother told police he wasn't sure if his sister was able to swim.
