PHOENIX - A man is in custody in the fatal stabbing of a man at a Phoenix home.
Phoenix police say 21-year-old Francisco Gutierrez is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder.
Police say they learned that Gutierrez had gone early Tuesday to the home in the area of Maryland and 35th avenues with his girlfriend, who was the ex-girlfriend of a resident at the home.
Detectives say Gutierrez wanted to fight with the former boyfriend and instead 25-year-old Alec Imus stepped in and a confrontation ensued.
Witnesses say Imus was stabbed during the confrontation and Gutierrez and his girlfriend fled the scene.
Imus' friends took him to a hospital, where he later was pronounced dead.
Gutierrez was later found by police and arrested. He doesn't have a lawyer yet.
