Fire destroys house in North Phoenix

PHOENIX - Firefighters had their hands full battling a fire in North Phoenix Friday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 2 p.m. near 31st Avenue and Cactus Road.

Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Scott McDonald said the fire started in the attic.

McDonald said the family was not home when the fire started. He said crews were able to save one dog, but another one is still missing.

Fire crews believe the fire may have sparked propane or fuel tanks on the back porch to explode.

The official cause is still under investigation. McDonald said no one was injured in the blaze.

Air15 video showed the home in ruins as firefighters foamed the roof to extinguish the last hotspots.

Firefighters say the home is severely damaged and uninhabitable at this time.
