PHOENIX - Phoenix Fire Department officials say two people were critically injured in a 4-car wreck in Phoenix Thursday night.
Fire Department spokesman Larry Nunez said the accident happened just before 6 p.m near 49th Street and Indian School Road.
Nunez said two trucks and two minivans were involved.
Officials say after the crash, one of the vans caught fire. A witness at the scene used their own fire extinguisher to put out the flames before crews arrived.
Nunez said a man riding in one of the trucks was trapped in his vehicle until rescuers freed him.
He and another accident victim were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say the other four victims sustained minor injuries.
Officials have not released the names of the people involved.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
