FD: Phoenix house destroyed in fire; 5 dogs rescued

PHOENIX - Authorities say five dogs were rescued from a house that was destroyed by a fire Wednesday night in Phoenix.

Phoenix Fire Captain Jonathan Jacobs said the fire started around 7:30 p.m. near Roosevelt and 22nd streets.

Five people live in the house, but only one was home at the time, according to Jacobs. The resident made it out of the house safe.

Five dogs in the home were rescued and treated at the scene with warm blankets and oxygen.

Jacobs said the cause of the fire is being investigated at this time. The house is a total loss.
