PHOENIX - A young girl is in critical condition Saturday night after a near-drowning during a barbecue party in Phoenix.
Phoenix fire spokesman Tony Mure said crews were called out to the house just after 5:30 p.m. off 55th Avenue, south of Thomas Road.
Mure said there were two adults and seven children at a barbecue party at the home.
The younger children were wearing floatation devices while swimming, and they had cleared the pool just before the incident, Mure said.
The children changed out of their swimsuits, and a 3-year-old girl somehow got back into the unfenced pool, Mure said.
One of the adults called 911, while the other started to perform CPR.
Crews performed CPR once on scene and transported the girl in critical condition.
