PHOENIX - A Phoenix woman is lucky to be alive after her home went up in flames early Sunday morning.
Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Chris Ketterer said the fire happened around 3:45 a.m. near 33rd Avenue and Cholla.
Ketterer said neighbors saw flames coming from the attic and called 911.
The homeowner got out of the home and was transported to John C. Lincoln hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. Crews said she is expected to be okay.
Officials said the fire started in the garage and then spread to the kitchen and attic. They believe the heat from the fire caused a gas line to rupture making the fire worse.
Ketterer said the official cause of the fire is still under investigation.
