FD: 5 dogs killed in Phoenix house fire

PHOENIX - Five dogs and a cat were killed Thursday morning in a Phoenix house fire.

The fire started just after 9:15 a.m. near 24th Street and Southern Avenue.

Phoenix fire said when they arrived on the scene they could hear dogs inside. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames and did not find any humans inside the house.

The animals were found by firefighters inside the home.

A neighbor said two people live in the house and were not home at the time.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Red Cross is assisting the family who lost their home.
