PHOENIX - The father of an 11-year-old girl taken from Phoenix Children's Hospital was stopped and questioned at the Arizona border Saturday as authorities continue to investigate her disappearance.
Phoenix police Sgt. Steve Martos said Border Patrol agents stopped Luis Bracamontes as he was trying to enter Arizona from Mexico Saturday night.
The 46-year-old was not driving the black minivan last seen leaving the hospital on Wednesday.
According to Martos, Bracamontes provided "no valuable information" with respect to finding his daughter Emily, and reportedly denied any involvement in the girl's disappearance.
The 11-year-old was at PCH undergoing leukemia treatment and was expected to be released Thursday, but was removed from the hospital Wednesday night by her mother, 35-year-old Norma Bracamontes.
Police launched an exhaustive search for Emily, whose IV tubing was removed by her mother, exposing the young girl to possible infection that could potentially result in death.
Emily and her mother were last seen leaving in a dark van outside the hospital.
Police are still looking for the 11-year-old, or any family or friends who would know where Emily is. If you have any information please contact Phoenix police 602-262-7626.
