PHOENIX - Step back in time as a new exhibition opens at the Arizona Science Center in Phoenix on Saturday.
It’s called Lost Egypt: Ancient Secrets, Modern Science and gives visitors a chance to see how archeologists use modern science and technology to learn about ancient civilizations.
The exhibition explores how mummies, artifacts and other material remains contribute to current scientific understanding of past cultures.
One of the items on display is the Rosetta Stone, its message written in three languages. The artifact helped scientists to understand hieroglyphics.
The exhibition features a modern Egyptian street scene, a field site where visitors can explore tools, science and technologies used at the Lost City of the Pyramid Builders on the Giza Plateau, a human mummy and a laboratory with animal mummies, X-rays and CT scans of human and animal mummies.
The exhibition opens Saturday, May 31 and runs through September 1.
