PHOENIX - A dozen students ran the loop around Downtown Phoenix escorted by police early Friday morning to honor Martin Luther King.
They ran a 3.5 mile "Flame of Hope" torch run through Downtown Phoenix. The group had their very own police escorts as they started at City Hall at 6 A.M., and looped around to finish at the Sheraton hotel.
Once at the hotel the students presented the torch and opened the annual MLK breakfast.
The students will also lead the City of Phoenix annual Martin Luther King Day march on January 21st.
