Bus service in the East Valley will run as scheduled on Monday after talks of a bus strike starting.
First Transit, Valley Metro, and ATU 1433 have all agreed to meet on Tuesday to continue labor talks.
Valley Metro said in a Friday press release that they are hopeful a labor agreement can be reached between First Transit, the bus operator for the East Valley, and ATU, the bus operator union, before a strike would occur.
Valley Metro said all bus service in Chandler, Gilbert, Mesa and Tempe would be affected if a strike were to happen. There are routes traveling into Phoenix and Scottsdale that would also be affected if a strike occurs.
Passengers are warned that they should begin to consider alternate transportation to get to work, school and appointments.
The routes in the East Valley impacted would be FLASH, MERCURY, VENUS, EARTH, MARS, JUPITER, BUZZ, LINK—Main St., LINK—Arizona Ave., 30, 40, 45, 48, 56, 61, 62, 65, 66, 72, 77, 81, 96, 104, 108, 112, 120, 128, 136, 156, 184, 511, 514, 520, 521, 522, 531, 533, 535, 541 and 542.
The routes that enter Phoenix that could be impacted include 30, 45, 56, 61, 72, 77, 514, 520, 521, 522, 531, 533, 535, 541, 542.
Routes coming from Scottsdale that would be affected include 72, 81, 511, 514.
Valley Metro said if a strike occurs contingency bus service is not available and passengers should consider buying All-Day passes rather than multi-day passes.
