In a flash, photo enforcement is back. Speeders and red light runners...your free ride is over.

Phoenix will turn on its photo enforcement cameras after a two-month hiatus beginning Wednesday.

Mobile photo enforcement vans will also return to school zones and other special enforcement areas.

Scottsdale, Chandler, and Star Valley are also restarting their photo enforcement efforts this week. Mesa police say they have not decided when they will turn on their cameras again.

Cities statewide stopped using the cameras two months ago, when the Arizona Attorney General said red light companies needed private investigator licenses to view people’s license plate records.

Both Redflex and ATS got their licenses late last month.
