PHOENIX - Officials have identified a woman struck and killed in a hit-and-run on Interstate 17 Thursday.
Department of Public Safety Officer Carrick Cook said 59-year-old Malana Muldare, who has previous infractions with local law enforcement, was identified through fingerprints.
Muldare's body was found between the three and four lanes of southbound I-17 near the 24th Street exit around 4 a.m.
Cook said the driver of the vehicle that initially struck Muldare will not be cited for the accident. The female driver reportedly was on her way to work when she struck Muldare. When she got to work, she called her husband, who then alerted police.
It is believed two other vehicles, a semi truck and a rental car, also struck Muldare.
It is unclear why the 59-year-old was in the roadway.
