PHOENIX - An arrest has been made in the case of a driver caught on video swerving all over Loop 101 Tuesday night, according to a statement from the Department of Public Safety.
The department is defending its actions that allowed the driver to stay on the road for almost an hour after the first call came in.
DPS contacted ABC15 Thursday morning and updated us on a story we aired on Wednesday night regarding a dangerous driver on the freeway.
According to DPS, 32-year-old Jason Laskowski was taken into custody for DUI, and was also found to be in possession of 188 oxycodone pills.
DPS spokesman Bart Graves said an arrest was made near Loop 101 and 59th Avenue at 11:30 p.m Tuesday night, after officers made an attempt to locate the vehicle that had been reported driving dangerously.
Graves said when the call first came in at 10:27 a.m., DPS was working a number of collisions which required an immediate response.
The driver was caught on camera on the Loop 101 for at least 25 miles, starting at Tatum Boulevard and ending at Thunderbird Road.
At least six officers were looking for the driver and alerted Peoria police once Laskowski got off the interstate. Laskowski quickly got back on the 101, which is when DPS took him into custody.
