While thousands have been evacuated from the pathways of Tropical Storm Harvey in Texas, nearly two dozen Arizonans are going right into the storm to take action and help others.

The American Red Cross tells ABC15 that more than 1,000 people nationally are on the ground there or heading there in the coming days. In Arizona, 19 people are participating.

On Saturday, a husband and a wife hit the road for the long drive to Texas in the Emergency Response Vehicle.

On Sunday, a grandfather and grandson are also heading out. This is their fifth deployment with the Red Cross.

"It's in their blood," said Colin Williams with the Red Cross. "And they really, really enjoy this... you can see it. They really get a lot out of it."

But, the Red Cross could use a lot of help with their efforts in the disaster areas.

One way is to donate blood and the other would bemonetary donations.
