Allied Tube & Conduit Corp: Arizona manufacturer to pay $130K penalty

PHOENIX - Arizona Department of Environmental Quality officials say a manufacturer of metal tubing has agreed to pay a $130,000 penalty for hazardous waste violations at its Phoenix facility.

ADEQ announced the settlement with Allied Tube & Conduit Corp. on Thursday.

The fee is part of a consent judgment handed down by the Maricopa County Superior Court.

The agency cited the company for 15 violations, including nine for storing hazardous waste without a permit.

Allied manufactures fence and mechanical tubing, sprinkler pipe, metal building studs and other materials.

ADEQ started a plating initiative in 2008 to bring electroplating facilities into compliance with the Arizona Hazardous Waste Act.
