PHOENIX - With alcohol-impaired deaths occurring once every 45 minutes across the country, AAA wants to help those celebrating Thanksgiving by offering their annual AAA Tipsy Tow for the holiday weekend.
Linda Gorman, Director of Communications and Public Affairs for AAA Arizona, says the night before Thanksgiving Day is often popular for restaurants and bars, also making it a dangerous time for potential drinking and driving.
AAA Tipsy Tow will be begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday night, continuing through 6 a.m. Thursday.
For those needing a safe ride back after consuming alcoholic beverages, anyone can call 1-800-AAA-HELP (1-800-222-4357) between the designated hours.
By stating that you or someone else needs a "Tipsy Tow," AAA will provide a one-way ride for you, one passenger and a vehicle for up to 10 miles, according to AAA.
AAA also says that they need a driver's name, home address, phone number and vehicle or driver location.
Tows to other drinking establishments, vehicle starts, flat tires, gas delivery or taxi services are not available under Tipsy Tow service.
Celebrating responsibly will help you avoid DUI fines, which can end up costing more than $10,000, trips to jail and will help keep yourself and others out of danger.
AAA reminds Valley residents to drink responsibly, offer food and non-alcoholic beverages, keeping emergency cab and taxi numbers on hand, finding a designated driver and planning carefully for festivities.
