PHOENIX - Police say charges are pending against a driver who is accused of causing a crash that killed two women on Thursday .
Police say a 28-year-old man driving a Dodge Charger failed to stop for a red light at 43rd Avenue and Indian School Road in Phoenix and hit a Toyota Camry making a left turn around 1 p.m.
The women in the Toyota have been identified as 35-year-old Nerty De Gutierrez and 29-year-old Elvia Gutierrez.
They were taken to a local hospital where they both died from their injuries.
The suspect driver was also taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the investigation is ongoing, but it is believed the driver of the Dodge was impaired.
His name has not been released.
Charges are pending his release from the hospital.
