2 arrested in connection with cigar shop death

PHOENIX - Two people have been arrested in connection with a body that was found inside a 5th Avenue and Indian School Road smoke shop.

According to documents, an 18-year-old and a 21-year-old were arrested on May 2.

They are facing charges of first degree murder, armed robbery with a deadly weapon, theft and arson.

A shopper reportedly found the body of the 47-year-old store employee at the end of April. Police were called to the scene and found that the store had been ransacked and found a small fire.

Police determined that there had been a struggle.

The victim's supposed vehicle, a Cadillac Escalade, may also have been stolen during the incident. Police had sent out a report to look for the stolen vehicle, which was parked outside the store.

Police had detained several people for questioning after investigating the scene.

ABC15 is not identifying the suspects because they have not yet been formally charged.
