Phoenix police: 1 dead, 1 hurt in targeted 'Ohio' shooting in Phoenix

PHOENIX - One person is dead and another was injured after a targeted shooting Thursday in Phoenix, police said.

Authorities said two men were standing in a parking lot outside the Mariscos Mexican Restaurant near 27th Avenue and Indian School Road around 11 p.m. when a silver sedan pulled up to them, according to Sgt. Tommy Thompson, spokesman for the Phoenix Police Department.

A man got out of the vehicle and reportedly asked one of the victims if he was "Ohio," according to police. When the man indicated that he was, a second suspect got out of the vehicle and opened fire.

Both victims were injured in the shooting and transported to a local hospital. One of the victims, identified as 38-year-old James Finn, died at the hospital.

The other victim, a 50-year-old man, is expected to be OK, according to police.

Authorities say the suspects may be two Hispanic males in their 50s and may be driving in a Silver Sedan.

Detectives are asking the community for assistance in identifying and locating these suspects. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Phoenix Police Department at 602-262-6151 or Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS.
