Crews fight recycled paper fire in N. AZ

SNOWFLAKE, AZ - Crews in northern Arizona are continuing to battle a recycled paper fire that erupted Monday morning.

According to Show Low fire officials, multiple agencies responded to the fire around 11 a.m. at a lot near Catalyst Paper, located just west of Snowflake.

Officials have not yet said what sparked the 50-acre blaze.

The Show Low Fire Department tweeted at 7:40 p.m. Monday that crews were continuing to fight the second alarm fire as it spread through bails of recycled paper. More than 100 firefighters are reportedly at the scene monitoring the fire and will stay overnight to check for hot spots.

Photos from the department show firefighters spraying water from above the blaze as smoke filled the sky.

No injuries have been reported.
