TEMPE, Ariz. - Authorities have arrested a Tempe man in connection with a burglary of valuable coins and cash in Sedona earlier this month.
Detectives with the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office served a search warrant at the Tempe apartment of 33-year-old Oshin Thomas after developing information linking him to the theft based on a prior business relationship with the victim.
Authorities say the victim returned to her home on the evening of December 8 to find it had been broken into and called the sheriff's office.
It was discovered the suspect had pried open a storage room door and gold and silver pieces valued in the thousands of dollars were missing, along with $80,000 in cash.
YCSO says that while in Tempe detectives learned Thomas had buried some of the stolen property in a remote desert area. Detectives located the hole and recovered four boxes containing some of the stolen silver.
Detectives continue to locate the remaining stolen silver and gold hidden in Arizona and California locations.
Officials say they expect to recover a majority of the stolen property which has a total estimated value exceeding $600,000.
