Northern Arizona woman crashes Jeep into fire station

VILLAGE OF OAK CREEK, AZ - A woman in northern Arizona was booked into jail after crashing into a fire station Friday night, authorities said.

The accident happened around 11 p.m. in the Village of Oak Creek, according to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Office.

Officials said 53-year-old Cher Lyn of the Village of Oak Creek was traveling south on Slide Rock Road when she apparently lost control of her 2004 Jeep Liberty and crashed into a Sedona Fire District fire station.

Lyn was injured and treated by Sedona fire EMS personnel at the scene and taken to the Verde Valley Medical Center in Cottonwood for treatment of her injuries.

Authorities said no one else was hurt.

The crash caused significant damage to the Jeep, a bay door of the fire station and to a Sedona Fire District fire engine.

Lyn was booked into the Camp Verde Detention Center on charges including criminal damage and driving under the influence. Blood tests results to determine the level of alcohol intoxication are pending, according to authorities.

Officials said property damage is extensive to the building and vehicles and will likely cost in the tens of thousands of dollars.
